She was my best friend. The person I told my deepest secrets to. But when my world came crashing down, it was all because of her family.

From that moment, I realized I’d been wrong to trust her. Her big caring eyes and sweet face were nothing but an act as she’d watched on while I tried to keep my head above water.

That was our past.

Now, I’ve largely put Camila behind me and moved on with my life. Though it doesn’t explain why she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.

I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. Karma always wins out in the end. But suddenly we’re forced together once again and I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.

Review Tour: Inappropriate by Vi Keeland!

INAPPROPRIATE IS LIVE!
A Standalone Contemporary Romance
#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Vi Keeland

SYNOPSIS
Terminated for inappropriate behavior.

I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.

Nine years.  Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.

All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…

Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.

I didn’t think he’d actually respond.

I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.

Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.

Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.

But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.

It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.

Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

~ Marlene's Review ~
Welp, guess I can't say that I'm not really into an office set romance anymore. This author has proven me wrong more than once. Yup, I'm here for it! This story begins with quite a few laughs and then... BAM! You find yourself sucked into a whirlwind of emotions as well.

Grant is a sexy, powerful, and in control executive. But he's also harboring intense heartache and has become emotionally detached over the years. Until Ireland lands in his inbox. She is a witty, straight forward, and a no nonsense kind of woman that ends up throwing Grant for a loop. They fall into a witty banter that had me cracking up. And then all of a sudden my eyes were leaking, but not from laughing. It's okay though, Grant and Ireland's journey leads to a sweet HEA!

Well written with perfect pacing.
Great character development, as usual.
Will cause sleep loss. Don't begin before bed!
Highly recommend!

Release Date: March 3, 2020

Emilia—
All I’ve ever wanted was to marry for love.
But girls like me don’t have that luxury.
We are used as pawns in a game we can’t control.
The game? It’s called Mafia.
I was foolish enough to try to change the rules… and I lost.

Luca—
She was promised to me years ago.
And he dared to take her from me.
Dared to touch what was mine.
I put an end to that.
I hope he’s enjoying the view from his dirt room.

Emilia—
My beloved’s killer placed a ruby ring on my finger and called me his queen.
But that red gem symbolizes something different for me.
It represents the blood shed by those I love most.
Hell was empty the day we wed.
Because the devil was standing before me and said “I do.”

Luca—
I saw her as a possession.
A shiny toy I didn’t want other boys to play with.
But she’s so much more.
Beautiful and brave and strong and broken all at once.
She tastes like everything I’ve ever wanted.

Emilia—
Hidden and patient.
I wait for the perfect time to seek my revenge.
But slowly, I feel him possessing me.
His heart is full of darkness… and I still want every inch of him.
Hard as I try, I can’t escape loving this beautiful monster.

Luca—
I’m waiting patiently because I already know that she’s mine.
Mine in a way that no one will ever understand.
Even if she hasn’t yet realized it.
For love, I’d do anything.
For her, I’d do everything.

Excerpt

I focus my attention on the girl sitting to Sofia’s left. The more beautiful one. The older-looking one. The more frightened-looking one with tears pooling in her lower lids.
Dark brown hair cascading over her shoulders and down her arms, the ends nuzzling against her bare skin like a frightened child clinging to its mother. Almond-shaped deep-caramel eyes surrounded by lush dark lashes. A few scattered freckles across the bridge of her perfectly shaped nose. Plump, glossy coral lips.
In my wildest dreams, my betrothed didn’t grow up to be this beautiful. And it annoys the hell out of me because I don’t want to be attracted to her.
I want to make her suffer.
Sofia Bellini grips the hand of the girl in question. “Please, Marco. Swear to me on your honor that my daughter will be safe with you.”
My father chuckles. “Emilia is going to give us babies, heirs to the Rossini empire. There is no safer place for her than with our family. You know that.”
Sofia and the girl beside her, my Emilia, embrace one another and sob. Her grandmother and sisters cluster around her doing the same. It’s pathetic. I would have expected less of a display from Bellinis. Certainly not this spectacle.
My betrothed has weaknesses. Those will need to be eliminated before she influences our sons with that nonsense.
“That’s more than enough of that,” I tell them.
She lifts her chin and her eyes meet mine for the first time. Inside those deep-caramel orbs, I see something I like very much: rage. There during one heartbeat and gone the next, it was only a fleeting flash. But I saw it and I don’t mistake it for what it is.
This girl is going to be so much fun to break.
“Come, Emilia. I’m ready to take you home.”

Trey jolted up in his seat and strained to hear something. “Listen.”
“What?”
“I love this song.”
I listened, recognizing Cankor’s most popular rock ballad, “Symphony.” “Then why aren’t you watching their set?”
He stood and extended his hand out to me. “I needed someone to dance with.”
I stared at his hand, wondering how he always just knew the right thing to say. But I wasn’t one of the groupies who’d do anything he asked. “I’m not dancing.”
“Scared?”
My eyes lifted to his. “Of what?”
His cocky smirk slipped into place. “I think you know.”
There was one thing I did know for sure. Dancing with Trey was a bad idea. I knew it with every fiber of my being. I was in a relationship—a rapidly deteriorating relationship, but a relationship nonetheless. I was lonely. And I was starved for any kind of attention. Those combined made for some serious lapses in judgment.
I reached out my hand. Trey grasped hold of it. His grip was warm and strong as it closed over mine. A tremor rushed up my arm.
Dammit.
He yanked my hand, jerking me to my feet.
I laughed, not expecting him to be so strong.
He smiled down at me.
“What are you smiling at?” I asked.
“You never laugh.”
I considered what he said and realized he was right. “I don’t usually have a reason to.”
His lips twisted regrettably as he gently pulled me into him. He slipped his other hand around to my lower back. The motion left a trail of numbness in its wake, and I hated that I needed the contact more than I realized. I didn’t know what to do. Where to look. What to say.
Trey moved us to the song playing in the distance.
I rested my cheek against his shoulder. Was this really happening? Were Trey and I really dancing in a parking lot? His woodsy scent consumed every one of my breaths as I felt myself slowly getting lost in his embrace. He was built, sexy as hell, and he held me like he wanted me in his arms. And I had no idea what to do with that notion.
The soft sound of his humming filled my ears as we moved to the music. I hadn’t been in anyone’s arms but Keith’s in over a year. This felt different. Forbidden. Risky.
“You still with your man?” Trey asked, his raspy voice sending a tremble through me.
I wondered if he felt the speeding of my heart. “Not sure.”
“Why’s that?”
“He saw some pictures Aubrey posted.”
“He’s not happy?”
“He’s not happy I was happy,” I explained.
He scoffed.
“Well, he’s not gonna ruin my fun or tell me what I can do.”
“That’s the Brie I know.”
“Is it? Because I’m starting not to know who she is anymore.”

Title: The Third Best Thing
Series: Fulton U #3
Author: Maya Hughes
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Najla Qamber
Release Date: January 30, 2020

Blurb

Dear Letter Girl, I need to see you. When can we meet?

Her response never came. My secret pen pal with a dirty mind has ghosted me. I've roped Jules, my sweet as pie next door neighbor, to help me track her down.

There's only one problem—I'm falling for her. The tortoise shell glasses, out of this world curves and delicious treats are making the search for The Letter Girl even harder.

My notes were supposed to be a one time thing. A little too much wine and naughty thoughts on a winter's night. I never thought Berk would write back. I wanted to tell him it was me, but the fear of rejection kept my lips sealed.

Now he’s enlisted my help to track down The Letter Girl and our search has him hot on my, ahem, her trail.

She's the girl next door.

He's my secret pen pal.

Truth is on a collision course with their hearts and it’s only a matter of time before one of them gets wrecked...

Excerpt

How can you lose someone you’ve never met? The Letter Girl had careened into my life like a damn smash and grab pro and wormed her way into my heart before I knew what happened.
She was everything I’d ever wanted in a girl. Hot as hell. Smart and caring. The slow slide of the notes from X-rated to something more caught me off guard, but she became someone I could talk to. Someone I could share parts of myself that I didn’t share with other people. Even if she didn’t know everything about my past, she knew more than most.
No one wanted to be sexy pen pals with a former foster kid with almost no one in the whole world. Nah, that was for the college senior, soon to be pro athlete.
Don’t ever let anyone see things bother you; I learned that in foster home number four. If everything’s a joke, there’s nothing they can do to hurt you, but losing TLG when I thought I’d finally found someone who knew me for me and actually gave a shit? That hurt. It was an unexpected squeeze on my heart every so often that made it hard to breathe.
Jules slid her hand closer, herky-jerky like she was in a stop motion animation movie before it finally landed on top of mine with a gentle pat. “Is it really that important for you to find her?”
I shrugged. “Maybe not. She probably got tired of trying to figure out my fucking chicken scratch.” I forced out a laugh through the tightness in my chest.
“Once the season starts things will be crazy for you, right?”
“You’re right. I guess I’m fixating because not much else is going on.” No, this would always be a question I needed answered. Who is TLG and did all the things we’d written about mean as much to her as they meant to me?

Excerpt Reveal: Inappropriate by Vi Keeland!

Excited about Vi Keeland’s upcoming release, Inappropriate?
Check out this SNEAK PEEK

I wondered if he’d be here.
I was mid-conversation with some former colleagues I hadn’t seen in a few years when I got my answer. The sight of him made me lose my train of thought.
On the other side of the room, Grant Lexington stood wearing a classic black tuxedo. He was talking to an older gentleman, which gave me the opportunity to really take him in—tall, broad shoulders, yet not overly bulky, a narrow waist with one hand resting casually in his pants pocket. Even from a distance, his confidence registered. There was something about the way certain men held themselves that showed they were in charge, and that really worked for me. It could take a man who was a seven and make him an eleven in my book. On the other hand, a handsome ten with a meek personality could be reduced to a five.
Mr. Confident held a drink in his left hand and raised it to his mouth, but he stopped before drinking. He seemed to sense something and looked around the room. When his eyes caught mine, a slow, wicked smile spread across his face. He excused himself from the conversation and strode toward me.
My body tingled as I watched him approach with long strides, and I turned from the group I’d been standing with.
“What a pleasant surprise,” he said.
I tried to appear casual as I sipped my champagne. “I’m filling in for Bickman.”
He nodded. “Of course.”
Grant eyed the group next to me. “Are you here with a date?”
“No. You?”
He smiled and shook his head. “Would a compliment be unwelcome? I wouldn’t want to sexually harass you.”
“Compliments are always welcome, Mr. Lexington.”
His eyes sparkled. Taking hold of my elbow, he led me a few feet away from the group I’d been standing with. “That’s a dangerous thing to say to a man like me.”
“What was the compliment anyway?”
Grant’s eyes swept over me. “You look beautiful tonight.”
I blushed. “Thank you.”
Grant stopped a waiter as he passed. He gulped back the rest of the amber liquid in his glass and slipped the flute of champagne from my hand, setting them both down on the waiter’s tray.
“I was drinking that.”
He motioned for the waiter to move along and returned his attention to me. “I’ll get you more when we’re done.”
“Done with what?”
He held out his hand. “Dance with me.”
I shook my head. “I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.”
He smirked. “I’m fucking positive it’s not.”
